If you've been following my blog you may have seen me post The Muslim Moments which are in celebration of the beauty of Islam, but what i'm about to post is a different take on that. Let me introduce to you The Astaghfirullah Moments, which will inshAllah remind you of all the times you messed up and just thought to yourself, "Allah, forgive me." We are all sinners of course, but subhanAllah, Allah is the Most Forgiving. Let's take these moments as reminders to ourselves of all the sins we commit daily, especially the ones we don't even realize are sins. Like backbitting for example is a major sin in Allah's eyes, but these days we talk about each other like it's nothing. Some people believe talking behind another one's back is completely fine as long as its true. That's not the case at all. If your saying something about someone that is true, but mean or offensive behind someone's back, that is ghibah (backbiting). If you are saying something false, also behind someone's back, that is called bhutan. Both are wrong, and we need to work on this issue within the Muslim community.
"O you who believe! Avoid much suspicion, for some suspicions are a sin. Do not spy on one another, nor backbite one another. Would one of you love to eat the flesh of his dead brother? Nay, you would abhor it, [so similarly, avoid backbiting]. And fear Allah. Indeed, Allah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful." Qur'an, [49:12]
