Back to Africa

I'll admit I haven't always been a fan of the turban style, but it's just everywhere today. Even my sister who doesn't wear hijab is rockin it.  I couldn't ignore it! Both hijabis and non-hijabis are doin' it. It's not the look for me, although some people can really work it. I know the looks posted here are not 100 percent hijab SO on that note, sistas, don't forget to cover your neck and ears and chest. It's really easy to dress modestly and look beautiful, so don't let the whispers of shaitan convince you that it's okay to show some body parts and to cover others. I'm not claiming to be perfect in that area, although I try my best to wear the hijab properly (God forgive me if I slip up). My point is, work the turban style if you please, but don't forget the reason your wearing the hijab in the first place.
A lot of sisters get so caught up in trying to be "fashionable" that they neglect certain body parts that they should be covering.  If you continue to not wear the hijab properly, you'll notice your faith decreasing. Think about it this way---if you cover up properly for the sake of Allah, than your imaan will increase because you are pleasing Allah. I personally notice that on days where I feel like my jeans are tighter than usual or my chest isn't fully covered, my imaan drops. How do you expect to increase your faith if your not following the rules Allah has given you?
Anyway, I've digressed. but InshAllah I didn't offend anyone. I'm just trynna look out for my sisters and hopefully they'll do the same for me.

Springtime Photos

"Love of Beauty is Taste, the Creation of Beauty is Art"- Ralph Waldo Emerson
Featured: Aqsa Z.
I gave my friend a photo shoot today in what was supposed to be spring weather, but let me tell you---it did not feel like spring! Even though we almost froze to death, it was a lot of fun using my new camera. I love the outfit Aqsa is wearing in these photos. It's so simple and romantic--which is the definition of who she really is inside. She'll love me for that comment lol. I love the pieces she put together in this outfit, such as the pink jacket paired with the light pink flats, and the African bag. All in all, today's outfit was photo shoot worthy :)

Modest Maxi

It's maxi dress season again! This year, look out for the long sleeve maxi dress, which is going to make hijabis worldwide very happy. What's more perfect than a long dress that is also long sleeve?! Alotta things, but lets not get into that lol.  I'm yet to see these dresses at the mall, but I'll definitely be looking out for them both in store and online. Also, before you decide to purchase any of these maxi's, make sure to either try them on or to get a size that won't be tight, because cotton has a tendency to be clingy.
Pretty much the modernized abayah..i can dig it, especially the scarf wrapped around her head.
My kinda maxi :)
This is so easy to assemble with some flats or heels, a scarf, some accessories, and you're out the door.

Inspired by Modesty

Sometimes I have the hardest times finding modest clothing at the mall, but lately, it seems as though modesty is almost the style, especially when it comes to pants. Alhamdulilah, we are fortunate enough to have variety in the West when it comes to the types of clothes we can choose to wear, so clothing is hardly an issue. Harem pants, khaki pants, and wide legged high waisted pants are a must and make for a beautiful outfit combination.

I have pants really similar to these that I got from Urban Outfitters, and I love them! They're modest and give you instant style

Islamic Student Association Fashion Show

Asalamu Alaykum! I'm excited to finally show you all my university's Islamic Student Association fashion show. I was in charge of running the show, and while it was fun and alhamdulilah everything worked out well in the end, it was extremely stressful but worth it non-the-less. Enjoy!

(left): Gorgeous turquoise Bollywood style outfit. (right): Black abayah with pink, flower embroidery, with a matching pink hijab.
(left): Red & beige spring maxi dress, worn with a black belted jacket. (right): Purple maxi, worn with a black blazer and matching purple pashmina scarf)
(left): Turquoise Express shirt, worn with jeans and a white kufi. (right): Business Suit, accessorized with prayer beads and a kufi.
Not only was this fashion show a great time, it was also a bonding experience for all the sisters.
Hijab designing was done by a talented hijab stylist. We were very lucky to have her helping us that night Alhamduililah.

Vela Clothing

After being contacted by Vela Clothing, I took a look at their site and was pleasantly surprised at the great quality clothing they had to offer mashAllah. I especially liked the wedding dresses and purses they displayed on the site. Take a look :)

One of their goals was to provide "high quality clothing," as they were inspired by the elegance of Turkish women. The Turkish woman's style did not quite fit the UK atmosphere, so pieces such as the long coat were re-done and remade to fit the UK woman. "Simplicity" was a major aspect that was kept in mind during the development of this clothing line. Vela features scarves, hand bags, occasion sandals, abayah coats, and wedding dresses, emphasizing elegance and class.

New Years 2011 Outfit Ideas

As new years eve is quickly approaching, the question of what to wear is looming over us, right!? Well, at least for some of you who are planning to go out for New Years or to just stay in and avoid the massive crowds of hoodlums (hehe ;)) in the streets, it's important to choose a cute outfit cuz it is new years after all. Anywho, what are your plans this new years evening?? My plans are to go out with my family, have a nice dinner, (attempt) to see the fire works in D.C, and come home inshAllah. My original plans were a bit different, but I'm content with what ended up happening in the end. The fact that my plans fell through gave me the opportunity to spend a new years with my family, something I won't have the chance to do pretty soon. Here are the outfit choices I promised earlier :)

                                               Party Outfits

I've been dying for the opportunity to post this GORGEOUS look up and I finally got the chance!!!
Muy Elegente, Si senioritas muy bonitas?

Not hijab, BUT this dress is so cute, you HAVE to try and experiment with a blazer or cardigan of some sort, right?

                                                     Chillyo New Year

This look is just right, it's very simple and cute
These rich colors, turquoise and burgundy will look beautiful at night time.
Have I posted this look before? Idk, if I did, it tells you how much I love this outfit. This is probably my favorite casual new years outfit.

I'll be back after new years inshAllah with my new years outfit!
