To the folks who blindness was a disease that effected the eyes alone,I promise I won’t judge you, I barely know how to love youAnd like fools we preach rules, but we don’t even follow our own.
Everybody needs comfort,Some people find it in this; some people find it in thatAnd some people just don’t find it at all.
But this world is full of signsFrom the moon to the stars in the skyFrom the bees and the bugs, like a seed in your bloodLike a feen to a drug, makes you need to look upAnd questions what’s up, why you deal with this stuff? When your spirits are crushed and you trek through the roughBut like thunder it struck, said “Be” and it was
All the signs that were sent, they finally make senseYou feel the torment, so you need to repentWhen your heart is cement, it’s hard as a brickCause your soul is worth more than the dollars and cents,All the money in the world couldn’t buy you happinessCause “verily, it is in the remembrance of Allah, that hearts do find rest”
And do not get it confused,I’m not a scholar or a preacherI’m just a regular dude, who makes mistakes tooBut we are reflections true,So I cant talk about me without talking about you
And who knew?We would end up in a place so confusedWhere little boys wanna be like little girls and little girls just wanna be abusedWhere the terrorize the truth, mentally arrest the youthEven though there is no law but Allahs’ and momma didn’t raise no fool.
And who knew? That expecting the world to treat you fairy because you think you’re a good person,Would be a little like expecting a bull not to attack you because you’re a vegetarian,You can’t begin to learn what you think you already knowIn mans own ignorance we forgot that women once watched us growAnd before that you were a tiny ball of flesh without any bonesAnd before that you were just unknown, and now look beholdYou have the arrogance to assume that you just made it on your own?But what were you but a chewed piece of clot, before the grewAnd who knew you would trace you ancestry back to a zoo?You must have really come from apes with your monkey point of viewsEven the devil believes in God, so what does that make you?
And it’s trueSometimes I feel like Noah preaching to a packed empty roomNobody wanna listen until we start rolling out two by twoI’m a big fan of Abraham; never break-up from JacobJoseph had the kind of beauty that you couldn’t find in makeupMoses was to Pharaoh what stones are to arrowsAnd David to Goliath was truth is to silenceFollowing, Solomon I’d get down tooContrary to popular belief, Jesus is my homeboy too.So peace be upon the whole crew who came to teach what we never knewEven though few caught the groove, the never turned blueNever confused what was true even if it was a tabooNever came for fame or praise but to praise who the prayed too
And who knew? That an unlettered man from the middle of the desert,Would change the whole world from darkness into heavenYou may have every title, every big shot degreeBut you still can’t explain: Alif-Lam-Meem
And who knew? There would be so many views and way to explainThat he’s closer to you than your jugular veinSo if you complain that God must be cruelCan you give Allah, all that he gives to you? From the breath that you breath, to the trees that you feedFrom the eyes that you see, to the sea that you eatIf I cut you, you bleed, than you heal magicallyWere the illest machines, manufactured for means. The concepts extreme but this world is a dream,It’s not what it seems filled with lies and deceitThe truth is serene so wake up smell the deenPraises be to He, His Oneness, SupremeTotally unique, in no need of sleepNot like you or me, his greatness completeNo partners, no mates, no father, no sonsNo discount 3 in 1, just Allah Azwa JalEven the birds sing his name,The Lord of all the worldsGlory be to He and to Allah is our return

Boonaa Mohammed- Signs

Wasalu Muhammad Jaco
Although I try my best to avoid listening to music, sometimes I end up hearing it in the car with friends and what not. I have friends who are serious Lupe Fiasco fans and I never really understood why until now. MashAllah this brother has some very intelligent things to say. He tries to spread the message of Islam through his music, which I think is a good step although some people would disagree. I'm not trying to get into the debate about whether music is haram or not (lets leave that for another discussion), I just wanted to share with you all some of the things I found interesting in his new album.
"Now you can say it aint our fault if we never heard it
But if we know better than we probably deserve it
Jihad is not a holy war, wheres that in the worship?
Murdering is not Islam!
And you are not observant
And you are not a muslim
Israel don’t take my side cause look how far you’ve pushed them"

"Writing or speaking about Islam does not make you a good Muslim.
Practicing and striving by its ideals makes you one."

This quote is absolutely right! No matter where you go, there will always be someone there trying to put you down. Rather than responding with anger and going about your day huffin n puffin about how so and so treated you, you might as well move on as though nothing happened. In the end it will take more effort on your part to get angry, so why not smile and let Allah take care of everything.

Muslim Moment #6
hahaha the blessings of Islam! I can't even begin to tell you how awkward it is to make wudu in a public bathroom and have someone walk in on you, but I also can't even begin to tell you the amazing feeling you feel afterwards. Allah tests your faith in sooo many ways and this is only a minor test. Whenever this happens to me, I just laugh it off and wonder if maybe that little "embarrassing" moment may have been a form of da3wa to that person. hmm Allahu A3lam though...

Muslim Moment #4
Surah: 13. ar-Ra'd (ayah 23)
Gardens of perpetual bliss: they shall enter there as well as the righteous among their fathers their spouses and their offspring: and angels shall enter unto them from every gate (with the salutation)

"Why Do I Sin?"- Aly Zakaria
Why do I sin?
Why do I listen to that Jinn?
Why do I let him in?
Inside my head
Where he can manipulate everything
Starting with the small things
And going to the ones that are big
Khalas, it is over, I won’t let him win
So why do I sin?
Is it something within?
Is it a part of me?
A part that want to see
A part that want to experience
What is in Allah’s eyes so hideous
Khalas, it is done
I am getting out my water gun
To clean out my heart
From everything that is hurt
So why do I sin?
Looks like I am still the same
Running after this dunnia, and its fame
I turned out to be so lame
Thinking that life is just a game
But it is not
Life is a test
To find out who among us is the best
In this dunnia we are just guests
Traveling to meet the best of the best
Whose mercy covered the earth from the east to the west
Yet I still sin
But it is ok
Because with Allah’s mercy
There is still a chance that I might win
Oh Allah, you are the most forgiving
Please forgive us for forgetting
Everything to us You have given

Innocent
I guess you really did it this time
Left yourself in your warpath
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind tryin' to get it back
Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything?
And everybody believed in you?
It's all right, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you've been
You'restill an innocent
Left yourself in your warpath
Lost your balance on a tightrope
Lost your mind tryin' to get it back
Wasn't it easier in your lunchbox days?
Always a bigger bed to crawl into
Wasn't it beautiful when you believed in everything?
And everybody believed in you?
It's all right, just wait and see
Your string of lights is still bright to me
Oh, who you are is not what you've been
You're
There's some things you can't speak of
But tonight you'll live it all again
You wouldn't be shattered on the floor now
If only you could see what you know now then
Wasn't it easier in your firefly-catchin' days?
And everything out of reach, someone bigger brought
down to you?
Wasn't it beautiful runnin' wild 'til you fell asleep?
Before the monsters caught up to you?
Time turns flames to embers
You'll have new Septembers
Everyone of us has messed up too
Lives change like the weather
I hope you remember
Today is never too late to
Be brand new
Who you are is not what you did
You're still an innocent
Lost your balance on a tightrope
It's never too late to get it back
You're still an innocent
Lost your balance on a tightrope
It's never too late to get it back
- Taylor Swift
These lyrics make me cry; they are a testimony to the lives of anyone who has ever felt like they are no longer innocent because of their past. I know what it feels like to have regrets that constantly haunt me. It's good to feel remorse, but it's also important to know that Allah is the most forgiving and if you become so engulfed in our past you can't move forward. Your past does not define who you are now.

Letter to my Ummi by Alexandra Aisha
My sister in Islam, Alex wrote this beautiful piece on her struggles with her mother and society since taking her shahada a few months ago. Her poetry comes from deep within and may Allah Subhanah Wa Ta3ala reward her for the da3wa she is making to people everywhere.

"The Optimist's Creed" by Christian D. Larson
Promise yourself...
To be so strong that nothing can disturb your peace of mind.
To talk health, happiness and prosperity to every person you meet.
To make all your friends feel that there is something in them.
To look at the sunny side of everything and make your optimism come true.
To think only of the best, to work only for the best and expect only the best.
To be just as enthusiastic about the success of others as you are about your own.
To forget themistakes of the past and press on to the greater achievements of the future.
To wear a cheerful countenance at all times and give every living creature you meet a smile.
To give so much time to the improvement of yourself that you have no time to criticize others.
To be too large for worry, too noble for anger, too strong for fear and too happy to permit the presence of trouble
